In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful...

As-salamu Alaykum (peace be upon you), and welcome to this year's on-line poetry blog, where you can vote for the best poems in each category. In order for this contest to be fair, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Vote for one poem only in each category: Youth, Adult, and IWA Member (polls are to the left of this page)

2. Do not vote for the same poem multiple times.

3. Do not tell friends and family members which poem is yours so they can vote for your entry. Poems should be judged on their merits and adherence to the theme of IMAN.

Remember that Allah (SWT) is All-Seeing and All-Knowing.

Note: You don't have to be a member of the Islamic Writers Alliance to vote for your favorite poems. Voting is open to the general public.

Voting ends on June 30, 2008.

Don't see your entry?
Contact us at poetrycontest@islamicwritersalliance.net. This may be due an unfortunate oversight or your poem may not have qualified for inclusion.

Walking into the bathroom, already feeling the pull that comes after a long dry spell…
A cold winters night, saving on the heating bill, heater on low
The perfect mix of warm and cold water, definitely more warm than cold.
Hands under the stream, scalp tingly, the cold windchimes within-
intensifying the warm surrounding each finger
A thought: "forget that three time thing, ain't nobody said twenty times was forbidden."
Laughter, savoring. Looking into the mirror,
"Why, hello there…"
Making faces, a pretend comedy show for friends, making them laugh
Mmm. The water just got warmer.
Washing the face now, warmth on the eyelids- one of the best feelings in the world..
Almost as wonderful as when a mother places cloth
on her child's irritated eye, bringing her mouth to it,
and letting her warm breath through,
Soothing it with her grace.
Heaven is most definitely under that woman's feet.
Droplets lingering on the chin..
Arms are always the hardest; afraid they'll be cold as soon as the water stops, they always are-
until remembering to bring a towel to the bathroom.
Head, ears and neck, no big thing, but the feet,
are another potential problem area.
Never been too fond of the whole water over the sock thing.
cheaters.
alhamdulillah The praise is to God.
