The Connection
How many times have I cried when you were deficient?
Pleading with my nufs, calling out to my Lord to make you sufficient.
You have been examined, studied and divided into parts.
Your amount is measured on a scale and is unknown to all except the Controller of Hearts.
I've asked Allaah to give me a new lease on you when like clothing, have become worn out.
Your increase is surely something to struggle about.
You are in my heart, upon my tongue and in action, constantly reminding me of my duty as a Muslimah. I pray that because of you I could be in Paradise with all those who have you as well. I know that without you I'd be doomed to a blazing cell.
As you penetrate my soul, pushing me to do good deeds, seeking the pleasure of my Lord.
These deeds are recorded and kept in a hoard.
Oh how you've made me jealous of those my senior being they've proceeded me with you.
I always pray and hope to forever keep you anew.
Some odd 14 years ago, I proclaimed you and was so eager to have you increase and be with me, all the while thankful to have been guided to you.
I'm full of hope and contentment, striving to keep you true.
I'm striving to keep you in check, afraid to leave you neglected and be the cause of my heart blackening.
I must continue with my ibadat, careful of any slackening.
I do have my share of jihad to subdue your frailty which causes the diseases of the heart.
I struggle and call upon Allaah to make this frailty depart.
I am grateful to Allaah that I have you and can tread the Path amongst those guided.
My fate with you has long ago been decided.
My guidance to you has been written in a Decree
Long before I've even come be.
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful...
