In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful...

As-salamu Alaykum (peace be upon you), and welcome to this year's on-line poetry blog, where you can vote for the best poems in each category. In order for this contest to be fair, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Vote for one poem only in each category: Youth, Adult, and IWA Member (polls are to the left of this page)

2. Do not vote for the same poem multiple times.

3. Do not tell friends and family members which poem is yours so they can vote for your entry. Poems should be judged on their merits and adherence to the theme of IMAN.

Remember that Allah (SWT) is All-Seeing and All-Knowing.

Note: You don't have to be a member of the Islamic Writers Alliance to vote for your favorite poems. Voting is open to the general public.

Voting ends on June 30, 2008.

Don't see your entry?
Contact us at poetrycontest@islamicwritersalliance.net. This may be due an unfortunate oversight or your poem may not have qualified for inclusion.

FAITH COMPARISON

Hardly a day goes by
That I don't think in wonder
Of all the time and energy wasted
In proliferation of one of life's biggest blunders.

"Just believe", they say
"Without it you're lost"
--Continuing their false claim
Of the divinity of the trinity-a distortion from ages past.

With no logic whatsoever
They have managed to misguide masses for ages
Yet a new tide is arising
An awakening to the falsity of the writing on their pages.

Laymen, priests, scholars and hard laborers
Are all coming to realize the truth
That the "Gospel Truth" of the gospels
Is not so real after all-and backed up with sound proof.

They find now to amazing relief
The simple logic of the pure truth of Islam
Brought in it's complete entirely over 1400 years ago
To strengthen and guide the community of man.

With the Quran as the pure word of God
And the Sunnah of the Prophet to boot
We will no longer be lost if we strive in sincerity
To reach heaven through pleasing the Creator-all in suit.

What lies on the pages of the Quran
Is not only truth of history in reality
But a challenge to all who seek truth and guidance
To think without prejudice-such perfect clarity!

Verse after verse you will find the appealing reminder
That the message is no trivial matter
Nor is it cluttered, foggy or confusing
Self-explanatory, clear, something for those who thing-quite delights the platter.

My message to you, fellow humans of the world
Who are still clinging to beliefs of old
Is a challenge to your intellect
Will you—can you—be bold?

Think clearly about what your religion says about the faith
Does it command you to merely follow
In blindness to it's origin and accuracy
Perhaps even leading you down a big hollow?

Or does it grant you the freedom and distinction
Of reasoning clearly with your mind?
Does it offer you the challenge to reason logically
With solid proofs-and not require you to follow blind?

If not, then I extend to you genuine invitation
To find out for yourself the satisfying truth
And to experience a definite realization
Of the tranquility based on solid proof.

That "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is His Messenger"
Upon that you can surely rely
It is the pure revelation directly from Him up above
Of that no one can ever logically deny.
